Step in Europe is a small-group tour operator based in Berlin. Since 2013 we have built slow, well-paced journeys across 45+ European destinations — designed by guides who actually live in the regions they lead, not assembled from a booking engine.

Berlin is a deliberate home base. From one of the best-connected rail hubs on the continent we can reach Prague, Vienna, Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Kraków without anyone setting foot in an airport — and that shapes how we plan every itinerary.

Our story

Built in Berlin, Run Across Europe

Step in Europe started in 2013 with a simple frustration: the tours on offer moved too fast, skipped the places locals actually care about, and were sold by people who had never been. We began putting together the trips we wanted to take ourselves.

Today the company is registered and operated from Berlin, with a network of guides living in the countries we cover. We contract accommodation, guides and transfers directly — so when something needs fixing on a Sunday evening in Porto, there is someone accountable for fixing it.

We would rather run twelve countries properly than list fifty we have never walked. Every destination we sell has a guide on our team who lives in it.

Ground travel where it is better

European rail is often faster door-to-door and always a better story. We plan around night trains and regional lines, not just the cheapest flight.

Room to actually arrive

Our itineraries leave gaps on purpose. An unplanned afternoon in Bologna or Porto is usually the part people talk about afterwards.
