Everybody wants the aurora. Far fewer people give the Lofoten archipelago the days it deserves, which is why we do the islands first and Tromsø second — by the time you are standing under the lights you have already had a week of red fishing cabins, white-sand beaches and peaks that fall straight into the sea. The whole route runs on ferries, buses and one short flight north.
Best months: September – March for the aurora, June – August for the midnight sun
Nobody can promise that — it needs solar activity and a clear sky on the same night. What we can do is give you two dedicated chase nights rather than one, with a guide who will drive for two hours to find a gap in the cloud. Over the last three seasons groups on this itinerary saw the aurora on at least one night roughly nine times out of ten.
Meet the group in Bodø and take the afternoon ferry across Vestfjorden. Check in at Reine and a first walk around the harbour before a welcome dinner of the day's catch.

Six days across eighteen islands of sea cliffs, turf-roofed villages and a waterfall that falls straight into the Atlantic. Fewer visitors in a year than Venice sees in a week.
