Bled, Ljubljana & the Soča
€1,180$1,340 / Per person
Slovenia packs an Alpine range, a capital you can walk across in twenty minutes and a river the colour of antifreeze into an area smaller than Wales. Lake Bled is the picture everyone knows; the Soča valley an hour west is the part that surprises people. We use the train and a minibus, and there is no day on this itinerary that involves more than ninety minutes of travel.
Best months: May – October
No. The pass usually closes with the first heavy snow, roughly November to April. Departures outside that window reach the Soča valley through the Bohinj rail tunnel instead — a slower but genuinely scenic alternative, and the Kobarid days are unchanged.
Check in centrally and take an evening orientation walk: Prešeren Square, the Triple Bridge and the covered market, finishing with dinner on the riverbank.
